Strong Atheists

A group for those who actively rebel against religious bullshit. Religions harm our society, poison our mind and threaten our mental health. This is an Anti-Religions-Group! No discrimination against a certain group of imbeciles, but all of them

I know what you mean about the pictures. My Douglas Adams fan group picture doesn't quite capture the whole "Don't Panic" saying. :)

I think I'll fit right in. I often post on other blogs (Huffington Post and Democratic Underground) and whenever someone brings up god or Jesus, I call them on it. And I'm not the only one. Just recently on HP, there was an article calling the recent plane crash "A Miracle". I was completely shocked and happy to see the amount of people who were "intolerant" of those who claimed their god had a hand in the safe landing and everyone surviving. We are out there! And our voices are getting louder!

I also write letters to the editor of my newspaper when ever someone writes an opinion and includes god or Jesus in it. Further, I belong to The Freedom From Religion Foundation and The Secular Coalition of America. Last but not least, I am constantly writing to Pres. Obama on his Change.gov website regarding Separation of Church and State. I want Faith Based Initiatives ended along with the non-exempt tax clause for Churches. I'm also tired of being told that we have to be sensitive to people of "faith". I believe all unbelievers need to be more vocal and come out of the closet, so to speak. The secular population in the U.S. needs to get organized and become a force to reckon with. Otherwise, our great country will end up a Christian theocracy. Where will that leave us?

I read a headline about that plane crash (or landing on water if you prefer) that roughly read "Hero pilot praised for miracle landing". Which one is it? If it was a miracle then he didn't need to do anything.

You could start a whole new thread on this. Essentially it is pure confirmation bias. The religious use it all the time. God has got away with this many times. The experience and skill of a pilot and his crew (and let's not forget the many other factors) get a plane down on water with no deaths and God is praised. Ask them where God was during the holocaust and they'll tell that mankind has free-will.

I know it seems that all I'm doing is plugging my book on Nexus, and now here on Strong, and I guess that is true, but I hope everyone will believe this; it is not to make money.

Everything that surrounds the bullshit of believing in a Creator of the Universe or any religion is harmful, even those areas where one might speculate are good, such as doing for others. But I dispute any of that because it continues to cause human beings to live in a fantasy land and to continue selling it to the young.

My book, The Parallel Progression, is about an election for president in the future. It is available on Amazon.com or at createspace.com/3343114. And I have to tell you how it ends. It is a political/social/thriller that ends with the election of an atheist as the new president, and attacks the religion bs very strongly in his inaugural address. I hope many of you will get a copy and read it, and then either pass it on to those you know who do not believe as you do, or tell them the title and where they can get a copy.

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
