South Carolina Atheists

Connect with fellow freethinkers and skeptics in the palmetto state. It's difficult to be a religious minority in the bible belt, and we need to reach out to each other and let each other know we're here!

I love the billboards. Now we just need to get one up in Bob Jones Country. That my friends, will be a true shit storm.

Just read that article. Ah, the raging and blatant hypocrisy. It never fails to amaze me. I've always felt that if people's faith was as strong as they claim then something like that wouldn't bother them.

I thought there was a group in Charleston that stirred controversy by renting a billboard?

Debbie and I lived in Charleston for many years. My mom and one sister are there, but they're true believers. I'm sure there are other atheists in Charleston, but I'm really sure where you'd find them. Unitarian Church, maybe?

I'd like to see more meet ups here in the charleston area. I've tried to get a skeptics in the pub together a couple of times, but mostly had VERY irrational theists respond. I found most my time was spent arguing the validity of faith.
Seems like upstate is a better place to form meet up groups.

Yeah, the Charlotte Group seems to be growing and has a handful of SC folks. We get together the second Thursday of the month at a restaurant for drinks and a meal, and lots of talk. Their website can probably be found easily by searching.

Hey Ted! I was wondering if anyone from here actually met up. Sounds like it could be fun.

Hi, LeighAnn!

My wife and I are just across the road in Fort Mill. We usually share a meal with the Charlotte Atheists and Agnostics once a month. Not too much else going on in the area, apparently...

Hi guys. I'm in Rock Hill, SC, outside Charlotte. I came across this site and figured I would join as it would be nice to hear from some people that I have at least one thing in common with .
