Connect with fellow freethinkers and skeptics in the palmetto state. It's difficult to be a religious minority in the bible belt, and we need to reach out to each other and let each other know we're here!

Camp Quest is coming to South Carolina in October, 2011 with a first ever family weekend camp!
Camp Quest is a summer camp with a focus on fun, friends, and freethought, and is aimed at the children from atheist, secular humanist, and other free-thinking families. Campers learn about science, ethics, religion, and critical thinking through games, skits, and other activities. These educational programs are interspersed with traditional camp activities such as swimming, games, arts and crafts, campfires, and more. Camp Quest builds a community for our children and teenagers and provides campers a place to explore their developing worldviews, ask questions, and make friends in an environment supportive of critical thinking and skepticism. At Camp Quest, we encourage campers to think for themselves, be comfortable with who they are, and engage respectfully with people who have different views.
The first week-long summer camp for kids 8-17yo will be NEXT summer, 2012, but we are having a weekend camp for the whole family (as in the youngest baby to the oldest grandparent) October 1-2, 2011. It will be a mini-Camp Quest with something for everyone, and highlights include a parents program led by Dale McGowan. The cost is $50 per person ages 4yo and up, free for children 0-3yo, and includes all food, activities, and lodging. For more information about the weekend camp, please visit http://campquestsc.org/cqsc-weekend-family-camp/.
@Maggie. The Greenville Nontheists meet on Sunday mornings at the Brew and Ewe coffee shop downtown at 11 am. I am a member and try to make the meetings as often as I can. Look for Greenville Nontheists on Yahoo groups and join up. We keep in touch via group Email and Sunday meetings.
