Vermont Non-Theist Resources

Non-Theist Gatherings in Vermont:

A skeptical atheist picnic was organized on Facebook.  It will be held at Chuck Villa's house (due to threatening weather) Saturday, June 23rd, at 1 PM.  Contact Ana Thema for info., or Chuck Villa on Facebook.

Vermont National Atheist Party has a monthly meet-up every first Saturday.

Other Vermont groups:

Vermont Skeptical Atheists:  A group for skeptical atheists on Facebook.  "The focus of this group will be helping to facilitate community for people in Vermont and nearby".  Facilitated by group member Ana Thema.

Vermont National Atheist Party:   Not strictly for skeptical atheists, let alone atheists, but I suspect a majority are at least atheists.  Monthly meetings currently in Montpelier.  Facilitated by group member Ryan McCue.

Upper Valley Humanists:  "The Upper Valley Humanist Association's mission is to provide a fellowship group for the non-religious based upon science, reason, empathy and compassion for our community and our natural environment."  Meets in Hanover, NH.

The Deep and Meaningful Conversation Meetup Group - Organized by group member Jon Bondy in the Burlington area. Not strictly for non-theists, but it appears some attend.

Matthew, as soon as the dust settles around here, I plan to listen to your Podcast. Thanks for posting about it here.

That's awesome, I'm well aware of North Prospect. It has quite a large synagogue.

Thanks for the clarification, Don. The Gallup poll I saw was at least a year ago so I wouldn't be surprised if it has changed since then - and for the better it seems!

I grew up and currently live in Burlington where I'm also attending UVM to pursue biological anthropology and religious studies.

Hey everyone, I just discovered this site and I'm glad to see some other rational-minded people from VT. :)

I discovered not too long ago from Gallup that our state is the 2nd most non-theistic state in the U.S., losing to Oregon by about 1% I believe it was. Makes me even happier to call this place home.

Rather than carry on long conversations on the comment wall, maybe folks could start new discussions in our forum, or add to old discussions already there. Might help to keep things a wee bit more organized. Hit the "View All" link to find the other discussions. Our group administrator seems to be AWOL.

Welcome Vermonster! Some of us are working on getting a Vermont group together. We could be on the verge of critical mass.

Hello, not a true Vermonter, but have lived here for 4 of my 21 years and for the most part, love this beautiful state. I've found the rural areas of VT to be very traditional and religious...so I am now used to being told I'm going to end up in "hell."
I'm new to Atheist Nexus so any advice, or tips for utilizing this website is appreciated, as well as any goings on in Vermont that I'm missing out on.

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you know I have been a Vermonter most of my life and have lived in the Burlington area and grew up in Essex as a Catholic not by choice. My spouse grew up a baptist and my three kids go to church with her in Essex. I feel alone as an atheists in Underhill Vermont community. I do not hide the fact that I don't believe in any god but, I don't bring it up either.
