Sherlock Holmes is an icon of both literature and cinema. Generations have enjoyed the nature of his intellect and superior powers of observation. It is so often Holmes vs. the impossible. He must use any resources available in order to solve the mystery at hand. The reader or audience is left in wonder as we go along for the ride. He is so often the racehorse as we gallop behind on the donkey trying to catch up to him.

I think he is compelling because he figures out the clues and can solve mysteries. He is very intelligent.
