Sex for fun and non-procreation!

In this world, we can't get away from religion. We've been exposed to false information regarding contraception failure rates and experienced the STD scare tactics. Some of us may even have gone through abstinence-only sex education!

Here in Secular Sexuality we will discuss:

-sexual health in light of peer-reviewed science
-safe for work guides on safe(r) sex (or links)
-questions that would shock the religious

It would seem as though we have a new, VERY progressive player on the sex education scene - Mama Coco!  This woman is frank about sex ... VERY frank!  [Honestly, she looks a bit like Frank!]  And in any case, she tells it like it is (oh, brother, DOES she?!?).

So have a look ... then bring me a cup of Tension Tamer Tea!

On a lighter note.

(Though I remember reading about scary attempts to subject women who've miscarried to criminal investigation!)

That was a particularly scary potential interpretation of some of the personhood amendments that some of the reddest states were trying to push, a year or two ago.  I don't think any of those actually passed.  Hell, the one in freaking Mississippi failed.

You're right, Joseph, a lot of anti-choice batshittery is consistent with viewing women as "barely-autonomous beings who should be treated like children."

It's still clear that it's not really about treating the termination of a pregnancy on par with killing a baby, or killing someone who's 5 or 10 or 50 or 100 years old. None of us would stand for such inconsistency in murder and manslaughter laws.

That's definitely a thing, yeah. If you talk to almost all of the extreme anti-abortion nuts, if you ask them the simple question, "What should the punishment be for women who have an abortion?"

Almost all of them will say something about how it should be illegal, but there shouldn't be a punishment for the woman ... as if that's a real thing.

Although, I guess it's sort of consistent with what is often their perspective of women being barely-autonomous beings who should be treated like children.  Women are just innocent pawns of the evil abortion doctors who force them into decisions that they're not capable of making on their own.
