Sadly, idiocy has a tendency to leak out of the US and damage the whole world, disproportionately to idiocy elsewhere. I forgot you were in the Netherlands, though. Sorry for my US-centric filter.
There's plenty of idiocy outside of the US, so much so that there isn't even place for an idiot such as Rush Limbaugh in most countries. The idiocy of the US is a different flavor and sometimes replaces the local variety of idiocy in other countries, the nurturing environment for idiocy to flourish however is present anywhere on the globe.
I don't mind your US-centric filter, it gives me a reason to be condescending towards you and allows me to feel superior to "you people" across the pond.
I didn't really state it well, but I think idiots in the US have access to much longer levers with which to inflict their idiocy worldwide. In a twisted way, I suppose it's a form of arrogance to assert that US idiocy is therefore more dangerous than idiocy elsewhere, but I think it's true. Many countries institute ridiculous policies just because the US wants them to. Obviously, idiocy is inherent in the human condition. But idiocy plus power is worse.
And hey, I'd be disappointed if Europeans weren't condescending and haughty. It's part of their charm.
Obviously, idiocy is inherent in the human condition.
Speak for yourself and your own people across the pond, you uncivilized baboon!
Now I'm going back inside to my cheese eating surrender monkey girlfriend because I don't like stereo typing at all.
Pretty condescending charming ain't I?
Seriously though, the US is of big importance both culturally and politically on a global scale. There's no denying in that, although I do doubt that it is something to be proud of at all occasions.
There are some things in the past and present that the US can be proud of though, sometimes being a dick is what global situations demand.
Ah, one of my favorite movies. Well, I just wish the US wouldn't be quite so damn thorough in damaging all the collateral like that. Some of it might be worth something on eBay.
A person that sees men (in general) as the cause of the oppression of women might not even understand what a patriarchal gender relation is.
Ooo, good point. It does seem to be easier to judge a group by the loudest members than to actually learn about it. I try to avoid it, but even I am guilty of looking at a Tea Partier and assuming they're racist. :(
Nerd - I think only the writer of that Wiki article defines "Radical Feminism" that way. I'm not saying the author is technically wrong. I call myself a feminist when the subject comes up, but most people don't have any idea what I am talking about. It is really annoying how morons are lead by manipulative power grubbers to attack people. I fear for the world.
Good interview. I've had a passing admiration for Hartley for some time, but never really read much about her personal views outside of her sex-positivity.
