“Love is something far more than desire for sexual intercourse.  It is the principal means of escape from the loneliness which afflicts most men and women throughout the greater part of their lives.”

I like your thinking and share this.

“There are all kinds of love in the world, but never the same love twice.”
― F. Scott FitzgeraldThe Sensible Thing

Remember new loves, or perhaps better defined as lusts, in your past; those attractions which dominated your thoughts and fantasies? I miss those, especially having the youth and opportunity to take advantage of them.

Different people will revise B. Russell's line differently. I will revise its second sentence to read "[Love] is the principal means of escape from the purposelessness which afflicts most men and women when they tire of pursuing pleasure. It results in the birth of children. And so the wheel continues turning.”

John, I'm referring to the love that allows escape from purposelessness. Are you denying its existence?
