Isn't the allegory that what the mind concieves man can achieve?
Isn't it alchemy: the making of something out of nothing (but thought)? To simplify it seems to degrade the concept to most people. People may not find something so simply and/or easy to understand to be valuable. They feel they must fight and sacrifice for such an important rule.
