Deceptive anti-evolution education bill passes in Tennessee House of Reps, onto Senate...

I hate mass-posting things, but I'm VERY concerned about this. It's a pressing issue for the children and educators of Tennessee.

House Bill 368 passed on April 7, now watch out for Senate Bill 0893. This bill is disguised as promoting critical thinking and scrutinizing scientific evidence, but in actuality is a classic creationist "Teach the Controversy" bill. Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this.

but once people start expressing their views there's a lot of good old
creationist/"intelligent design" rhetoric.)

AHH! Since the evolutionary process is loathesome to xtians I wonder how they would feel if the medical professionals told them, "Since you believe in god and not in the scientific process I don't see why you need this medication. You must not be right with god. Go home and pray some more."

A dirty little secret is that many of these folks beileve nature should take it's course and birth control should be banned. When they get sick why aren't they letting 'nature take it's course.'

My son once flew into a fury when he saw a poster that listed ways to refute the 'story' of evolution.

To hear this honestly is really not shocking anymore. Its Business economic. The religions cant afford for people to fade away from their belief. Just like a casino is built upon the dept of the gamblers, churches are built upon donations of scared or die hard fans. It wouldnt even be surprising either to see some of the politicians getting tax-free donations from these churches in order to pass this bill.

The only way to truly fight this is debate and talk with the people who are basically on the fence about the whole thing. There was a survey where people took a test on religion and the only ones who passed with an overal grade with a D is the Atheist/Agnostic group. Everyone else failed. So teach people about their own bible. I know the Thinking Atheist website has a whole list of bible contradictions and killings in there that a lot of people don't know about.

Im sorry to say that this is most likely not going to be the only bill just like this. This is pretty much an up hill battle from here.
