Welcome science fiction & fantasy fans!

As a science fiction/fantasy writer myself, I enjoy taking voyages into the unknown. Looking at the universe as it isn't often helps us put the real world into perspective. It's also fun to take an occasional vacation from the often-harsh reality around us. Unlike the theists, the religionists, the god-groupies who feel compelled to live in fantasy realms, we visit them and then come back home--and then go voyaging again.

I hope you'll all feel free to congregate here and compare your experiences in other worlds and times.

What's "TMZ", who and/or what is "nero"?

You might be unaware that "tranny" is considered a pejorative by many in the transgender community.

Seeing it next weekend. Can't wait but I am going in with skepticism. Have you guys seen this?

I think it'll be hard for the new Star Trek film to knock Watchmen from my personal best film of the year spot. But here's hoping it does.

I saw the new ST last night in IMax! OMFG! That was the MOST awesome movie! The casting was way more than brilliant! It was just the best movie to hit the theaters in a very, very long time! I'm going back next weekend to see it again! Can't wait!

I would LOVE to see a series emerge!! With (you said it) Pine as Captain Kirk, Karl Urban as Bones, Quinto as Spock, and the rest of 'em too!! It was bloody brilliant...

I always thought there would only be ONE Capt. Kirk, yes Im a huge Kirk fan, m mythological hero as a child. So much of what I learned at an early age about bravery, responsibility, service to a cause and an idea bigger than oneself, came from my idealization of Capt. James T. Kirk, as played by William Shatner, and written by many writers.
Having said that, I so want a series now with Chris Pine as Kirk! This film is awesome!! I didnt believe for a moment that Abrams and crew could pull it off. But the story, actors, and mythology is all there. We are going to see it again at the IMAX theatre.
