Love

I have loved you, free and wild

As storms raged through our souls.

And I have loved you, meek and chaste

While days played out their hidden goals.

Sometimes I’ve had to turn and run

From feelings so intense

The bonds of silk felt just like chains

Bound tight, to stop my breath.

At other times, the gossamer threads

Hung loosely, yet held us tight.

For in those times, I understood

How love could rule, its touch so light.

For better, for worse, the poets say

As we travel this road of life.

Together, alone, it matters not

For our love’s still burning bright.

And with the years, it slowly fades

To embers, cooled to the touch.

But still in memory, our youth alive

Bright flames of love ignite.

For when this mortal song is done,

Our dance through time has stilled.

Love remains the constant change,

The triumph, the heartbreak, the will.

Hi borisfrank and welcome to the group!
Everyone have a great day!

@borisfrank. Not sure if it is similar, but from what I remember, The Faded Sun by C.J. Cherryh, is a mighty good read. Has Religion, assimilation, aliens just as smart as humans, but don't think like humans at all, politics, betrayal, etc. Might be what you're looking for. Anyway, peace and be well, my friend.
