Hi. I'm in Morgan Hill, so a bit of a drive, but if the group ever does rise from the dead, so to speak, to meet for food or beers, hopefully I could make it.

It turns out that all meetup groups need an official organizer, who fronts all the fees for the site. If an organizer quits, everyone else in the group is sent a message asking if they want to be the organizer and if someone steps up, they have to come up with the fees. After Howard quit, Matt stepped up, but then he quit also after about a month or two and nobody stepped up after that. There was conflict between those who wanted to be activist and those who just wanted to socialize.

Well, the Santa Cruz Atheists meetup group has died with more of a whimper than a bang. We'll see if there's an afterlife.....

Santa Cruz Atheist meetup group is reformatting. There will be an activist side and a socializing side. New officers will be elected. Some possible actions are being considered. Visit the site for more info. I'll be posting updates here. I'll start a new discussion for specific issues and post dates and times of meetings and activities on the comment wall.

Big doings in the Santa Cruz Atheists meetup group. Looks like a change of leadership. If you want in on the ground floor, a meeting will be held on the Tuesday after Memorial Day Weekend. Check site for location.

Meetup group currently discussing a winter holiday season display for downtown Santa Cruz. If you haven't joined the meetup group, you still could come in with ideas, or express some here, which can be relayed. The current opinion seems to be trending towards a banner or wooden sign on the clock tower with the big red A and perhaps some other verbiage such as a slogan and/or the name of the group.
