Hi guys!

I live in Millbrae and commute to Berkeley daily. It looks like there's not really any activity on here, but I thought I'd say hi. =)

As you may know San Francisco Bay Area is the nursery for CAM, Anti-Vaxers, psychics, fringe religions and the gamut of magical thinking. The reason it has birthed so much “nonsense on stilts” is a byproduct of the vestiges of Bagdad by the bay, the free speech and the counter culture movements. The Bay Area prides itself on tolerance and open-mindedness; this allows cover to the purveyors woo. Not only does this innate tolerance sedate the skeptical groups, the Bay Area labels challenges from our reality based community as politically incorrect.  Ironically this very same environment hosts Cal Berkeley, Stanford, Silicon Valley and a thriving Biotech industry. These institutions are bursting at the seams with ranks of untapped likeminded needing only to be organized.

Salutations from Alameda "the isle in the bay". How about insight on relevant and active local Atheist groups/meetups?

Greeting fellow heathens/infidels. I'm Andrew, in the East bay- Castro Valley. (actually I'm a Berkeley guy, forced to live here in CV by unseen mystical forces...)

Andrew, I hate to tell you this, but to put it quite bluntly, college degrees in Film and Television won't get you very far in California.

I am not sure what "Apple certified" means. Remember, Silicon Valley has IT experts from all around the world. According to my husband, who works in the industry, formal qualifications are worth very little. What matters is the person's ability to do the work. My husband failed to complete a formal degree in computer science but manages to provide, within minutes to days, ingenious code and fixes for problems which have those with US doctorates in the area scratching their heads after six months.

I suggest you construct a portfolio of work you have done on your own and without supervision or instruction from others.

Laurel, this isn't an organized group or anything. This was made just so SF atheists can possibly get together if they wish.

I actually currently live in Tokyo, Japan. I'm originally from Atlanta, GA but when I move back to the U.S. I am really considering moving to San Francisco. I am hoping to work for Apple in some way or another...even working as an Apple Genius at an Apple Store would be OK. I have a college degree in Film and Television and I am also Apple Certified. I would just like to make some connections with some people who live in the area before I make the move. Please also take a look at my site at AndrewBushFilms.com/network Thanks.

I hail from Sunnyside... sort of between Glen Park and St. Francis. Sooo, do you all meet in the city or something?

Young Atheists

A group for young atheists, any ages from 0-20 welcome! People love to underestimate young people, especially minors who can't vote, but we are a powerful group...we are not alone.
