I read 'The God Delusion' last year, was already an atheist but it was one of the best 'new atheist' books to come out.
Am now on 'The Selfish Gene' and whilst i don't agree with all his views in it he is an asset to science and intellectual thought nonetheless.

The God Delusion probably more than any other singular force helped me let go of my Christian delusions and become an atheist. Though I've since read and gotten into other books and thinkers, Dawkins will always hold a special place in my heart *sniff.

This is not a RD fan club. Is a community about him.

Like Kristy said: "I hope this group will undertake intelligent discussions about Dawkins views - both for and against."

Stranger than fiction! I was musing last night that I really need to get my own copy of "The God Delusion". The copy I read was borrowed from the library.

This morning I went to a local car-boot sale and there, in a pile of second hand books, was .... "The God Delusion" - a mint copy - for $4!

I thought, "Now, if I was a Christian, I'd be convinced that I'd prayed for a particular book and God led me straight to it. Praise the Lord! But I'm laying bets that it wasn't God who led me right to a cheap copy of "The God Delusion"!

I don't see myself as a Richard Dawkins 'fan'. I'm interested in his point of view, and I admire his position as a scientist. I also admire the lead he has taken in popularizing atheism. That said, I don't agree with everything Dawkins says or promotes. I hope this group will undertake intelligent discussions about Dawkins views - both for and against. I certainly hope (and trust) that Dawkins is not seen by anyone as infallible or as an object of unquestioning admiration. Even Dawkins would hate that, I think!

Do we really need a RD fanclub?

Also, lol.

This might be an Aussie thing, but can we please find a more flattering photo of Richard Dawkins? That photo looks too much like our old right wing Prime Minister, John Howard! It's giving me the creeps!

Well, I'm already saying, "Oh my Dawkins!" instead of "Oh my God!" so I guess I'd better join up!

The first episode of his Darwin series was fantastic! I love Dawkins - i know many dislike his approach but i really admire him; usually he is spot on with what he says and he shouldn't have to hold back out of respect for the religious community - of course, the religious community are given the freedom to express their views and i think it only fair that us seculars should have also! Questioning their beliefs and asking them to question their own beliefs is much different to attacking their beliefs!!
