I'm getting tired of explaining memetics to folks who have never heard of it. This symbol comes in handy.

I wish I could go to the American Atheists convention to see Richard Dawkins speak.  I can afford the hotel and the tickets, but travel is another story.

My acronym for faith, - Fictional Apparition In The Head) for the next time some religious moron tries to rebut a sensible scientific argument with their hollow & meaningless cry.  And yes I'm proud to be an Atheist with people such as Dawkins, Sagan & many other brilliant primates. cheers ;-)

"Cosmos" Chapter 2, One Voice in the Cosmic Fugue, and "Dragons of Eden" were two popularization masterpieces written by Carl Sagan devoted to state the fact of evolution by natural selection as a scientific theory, a fact, not just an hypothesis. Sagan's popularization work was devoted to show science as a way of rational and critical way of thinking based on evidence, not on dogma.

Lots of others, I think. Michel Onfray is one.  You know others, such as Sam Harris and Chris Hitchens.  All make points similar to Sagan and Dawkins.  They make other good points.  What one says about atheism is often dependent on where you're coming from.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Sagan.  Sorry Carl.  But regardless, both Sagan and Dawkins have done quite a bit to further our fight for civil rights throughout the years.  I'd say that they've probably done more than anyone else, but I'm probably forgetting someone else as well.

Sagan's TV shows were trippy, all right, but I think Dawkins popularized the notion that Darwin isn't "just theory," explaining the difference between scientific theory and dogma.  Overall, I think Dawkins has done more for atheism, but then there is an old saying: When the people are ready they receive the message.  Someone else said that true communication is only possibly among equals.  The two men would have been fine friends.
