@ Steve Thomas I was not aware of Marlene Winell and looked up her links. Great information and well worth the time and effort to find. I signed up for National Institute of Relationship Enhancement®

and Center for Couples, Families and Children. Looking forward to their information. Thanks.

Oh, well, Intrinsic, we ALL contributed in one way or another.  I sang in the boys' choir, was an acolyte, and played Joseph in the Mithrasmas pageant.  And when I got to college I backed down in dormitory arguments on the existence of God due to then ignorance of fallacious logic, as when the son of a "minister" who tried to convince that I, too, had faith, by referring to the wall switch and saying, "when you throw it, you have faith the lights will go on."  (It did not occur to me point out that there was a 50-50 chance determined on scientific factors, the weather, brown outs, &c., or that the fallacy of false equivalences applied.)

I live in Austin and I was also indoctrinated and I was brainwashed too. I also participated in the belief system. But now I broke free and I am so much happier. Now we can help others.

@ James.  I'm sorry, but I was an unwitting participant.  When I lived in San Antonio, not far from you, I contributed (back in 2004) over 100 hours on two pro bono amicus briefs for Good News Clubs, establishing their right to have their flyers distributed in backpacks.  I was also a childhood victim of this type of brainwashing.

This project is my penance.  I want to bring attention to this issue, and over time to scale back the harm to which I contributed.

@ Intrinsic: I do not feel well.  I suspect God is punishing me for my wicked, wicked life.  The vid you post is nauseating to me.  I shut it off after a few seconds, a minute or so at most.  I cannot endure any more images of child abuse than I've already seen in my 69 years.

Congested quite, as I now have chronic bronchitis, always a possibility for a former user of nicotine and formaldehyde (both of which, as we know, are present in that product we'd "walk a mile" for).  Somehow, I cannot see myself in a grocers with a tank of oxygen.  I've also lost both taste and smell. Other than that, God blesses me with such health as He wants me to have, thank you.

Religious child abuse is now occurring in over 3000 public elementary schools through Child Evangelism Fellowship's Good News Clubs.  See my mini-documentary.

Latest ACA "Atheist Experience" #685 touched on the subject of the abusive aspects of religions. Hosts both mentioned Marlene Winell, a San Fran bay area therapist/activist who specializes in 'religious abuse'. She's easy to find on the web, has about a dozen Youtube videos as well.

Btw and speaking of Austin, there's a group of people sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the capitol building there, some at least marginally religious, trying its absolute damnedest to draw attention to and get support for a bill to end beatings as 'discipline' in US schools, a practice legal and widely practiced in former slave states. Paula Flowe has been there shouting and screaming since October, burned through her retirement money, close to losing her house. Meanwhile most of the rest of the country hasn't appeared even the least bit bothered that this issue hasn't yet even gotten half-decent lip service. Makes me wonder. Little girl describing for the court the murder by her parents of her four-year-old half-sister, a 'disciplinary' process that took months: "Toward the end she didn't even cry."
