Hello ALL~ another heathen from missouri here! Born in florida and split my growing time between Page in Northern Arizona (MORMON CITY!) and a small town (Van Buren) here in missouri... We just moved from springfield to an even smaller *village* near Piedmont, MO... we are definately drowning in a sea of faithful...

I've had the same response as someone else mentioned- people threatening to call DFS because we aren't raising our child with a christian religion... (HOW DO PEOPLE COME TO BELIEVE THAT THAT IS MADATORY IN RAISING A CHILD???)

So anyone near/inbetween piedmont/poplar bluff mo (or any small town near or around?) we'd love to make some friends!

I was born in Texas, grew up in south Louisiana, and now live in Indiana. Unholyroller is my mom who is divorced from my dad who is a pentecostal pastor. I am beyond screwed up! ;-)

I'm a native Kansan who returned from Dallas last year. I sure is cheap to live in these bible-belt places, but the fundies are driving me nuts. My next move will definately be to a blue state. I sure like being close to family, though. It's nice to communicate with others who are dealing with the same kind of issues.

I moved from the buckle of the bible belt (Kansas) to the front pocket (South Carolina). I've been dodging and weaving through crowds of Christians for 20+ years.

Hi all! I'm from St. Louis, MO and as others said if this isn't part of the Bible Belt I don't know what is. Except for the most progressive areas of the city, you'd never know you were even IN a city! The attitudes of the vast majority of St. Louisans (and Missourians in general) are very conservative and VERY Christian.

You wouldn't believe people's rections when they ask me where my daughter was baptized and I say that she wasn't and never will be unless she decides she wants it for herself. One lady actually said, "I am half tempted to call Child Services on you!"

Yikes...

Ah, Nelson, you are too funny!

I am from the north, born in Buffalo, NY. I now live in North Carolina and hear way too much of Billy Graham. I pride myself on being a free-thinker, and not at all religious, but by living in the bible belt, I know that I am different and could be drowned in "holy" water for my beliefs. I use to go to a Southern Baptist church long, long ago, and just remember it being awful, and so conservative and ridiculous. And, Leigh, I echo your sentiments about being burned at the stake, and if it should come down to it, I shall take your place in town square! Nelson, I'm just glad you went to collij. And learned to spell. Hahaha...lol. I can tell this will be a neat group...

I'm in Alabama, have always been here...and have always detested the religious bastardization that is Southern Baptist.
