You know, they could save a lot of money by equipping those school buses with removable plows, and even throw a salt-flinger on the back of it. They have to drive all over town anyway, so why not?

Growing up in NYC, I have memories of the school bus following behind the snow plow. Snow days? Yeah, we used to call them "weekends"...

I think schools closed prematurely here too. It was only 25, and no problems were reported with pipes, roads, etc. Our local radio guy said"what's the big deal; i put on my coat and rode my scooter to work."

I just don't understand the school here in AR.closed, but it been like that for the past 20 years at least, I grew up outside Detroit and we went no matter what, bundled up and headed out.

We got about a foot of the white stuff on xmess eve. You would have thout the apocolypse had finally come. Most of the snow has melted now, but it's bitterly cold....with gasp....wind chill!! I did drive 15 miles to pick my granddaughter up from school this PM. Sha has to walk about a mile and the wind was fierce. Can't wait for tornado season!!

I just have to share this with someone. I know those of you stuck (like me) in the South will appreciate this. Our local ABC affiliate has been running a list of school closings for the day due to snow. My favorite? Faith Home School is closed for the day. Think of all those Home Schoolers spending hours on the phone with each other in preparation (if the snow falls there'll be no learnin' in this house today...it's a snow day!). You have to wonder about the sanity of the folks at the television station for even listing it! And just to amuse any Northerner who may be reading...the closings came about because we received less than 1" of snow.

Hello everyone, I'm brand new here and looking for people near me. I'm in Spartanburg (upstate) SC. Look forward to meeting some neighbors.
