I wasn't quite sure where to put this, but I thought that people from this group might be sympathetic. I'm not quite sure if I qualify as bible belt (I live in Indiana), but here it goes anyway:
I live with my fundamentalist Christian parents who do not know that I am not the same. I am going away to university next year, so my dad signed me up for an apologist conference over the summer. I strongly do not want to go, but it seems I have no choice. What should I do? The following link is the basic curriculum that will be taught at the conference: http://www.summit.org/curriculum/high-school/christian-school/ I am looking for tips on what to do while I am there to not go crazy or tips on how to avoid going in the first place. I'm scheduled to leave July 18, so any timely advice would be wonderful.

It might be a good idea to go and learn their arguments for religion so that you can come up with reasons why all the argument they come up with are wrong. Just an idea. Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas on how to keep yourself from going insane.
Go there and start shit. That's what I'd do.
If you're not looking to cause too much drama at home, you may just want to give in and go. If nothing else, at least you'll get some college credit. Look at it as a spy game, and you're the mole.

Before you go, learn to spot logical fallacies. Take notes on the ones you find them using. This will at least keep your mind occupied and hone your skeptical skills, so maybe you won't be driven too crazy. One of my favourite resources is the Skeptic's Annotated Bible. Go to the "What the Bible says about..." section to identify specific topic points you may want to focus on.

One of the issues this conference claims to cover is critical thinking. I'd be interested to see their take on this topic and how truly off-base it must be.
I just read this. Sorry, I'm a little late in replying. How did it go?
Thanks everyone for your suggestions...I made it through! Now all I need to do is research so that I can properly counter-attack the arguments they learned there.
