Any one else out there still recovering from Catholic guilt??I come from an extremely Catholic family/upbringing. In 6 days I will be the first person in my entire extended family not to marry a Catholic in a Catholic Church. My biggest source of…Continue

Anyone still deal with anything like this?

One thing I have noticed is a tendency to "doubt" my new path in life. I still want to reach for the Bible sometimes. I still hesitate somewhat when someone mentions Pascal's "Wager"...LOL! Even though I know that science teaches this and that no…Continue

"Thief in the Night"

Last night I was reading Seth Andrew's book, Deconverted, and I almost fell out of my chair when he discussed being forced to watch the end times film from the 1970's call "A Thief in the Night."  He described some of the scenes, and I had a…Continue

Has it Been Easy for Anyone?

I wonder if anyone who's gone from faith to non-faith has done it relatively easily? I ask because, for me, it's not really been that tumultuous. I guess it has a lot to do with my upbringing. Despite my family being really religious, it has also…Continue

Fred Werther,

Have you looked into humanism, pantheism, and naturalism? Humanism and naturalism are atheistic/non-theistic. Pantheism is Greek for God is all, but in this case, nature is god- Those are about the only three that might fit what you are trying say, but none of them are a religion per se.

So I wish there would exist something in between.

You know the old saying: wish in one hand, shit in the other, which one gets fuller faster?

I'm so glad you felt encouraged, Amy. It can be lonely, we're lucky to have the internet, I think.

you're welcome, Amy. Good conversation doesn't have to be about belief or non-belief. Just as long as it's intelligent and lively. You're welcome to join in anytime. You can also find me on facebook ranting away all to my lonesome self and the 196 poor bastards that were unaware enough that day to click "accept"! ;^)

Joeyess and Shelby, I'm encouraged by your conversation. I also enjoyed spending the start of my day listening to Tim Minchin :) I don't yet have a strong network of unbelievers, and often get lonely for it. I feel a little bit more connected by "listening in" on your thoughtful discussion. Thanks.

Hopefully I can convert one of the BP employees snorkels that wash up on shore over here.

That sounds like fun. Wear a pollution mask. The air is bad, I hear. Real bad.

A wise apprehension.
Managing a night club sounds cool. Missouri is one of the few states I have not visited. Always makes me think of the Tom Waits song "Bottom of the World" due to the reference.
I'm going to Mexico City in October and may not come back for a while. I've never been south of Texas and am looking forward to it.

I manage a night club in Missouri and am getting by doing what I can..... I would like to get down to the Gulf to help, but BP would just poison me and then wait for me to die to settle out of court with my wife. ;^)
