Recovering from Religion

Recovering from Religion

Unless you were raised by atheist parents, you probably had some recovering to do when you left religion. The purpose of RR is to provide a landing place for people when they jump from religion. With local support groups throughout the US, Canada, UK, and Australia, and real-time resources accessible to everyone, RR is where to turn when faith has lost its luster.

One thing I have noticed is a tendency to "doubt" my new path in life. I still want to reach for the Bible sometimes. I still hesitate somewhat when someone mentions Pascal's "Wager"...LOL! Even though I know that science teaches this and that no…Continue

Last night I was reading Seth Andrew's book, Deconverted, and I almost fell out of my chair when he discussed being forced to watch the end times film from the 1970's call "A Thief in the Night."  He described some of the scenes, and I had a…Continue

Lillie, for a long, long time I had no anger; now it is spewing out all over the place and the more I try to reframe my experiences the more angry I become. So, I guess, for a while, I shall let it boil and blast and spew out all every everyone, and those who like me just know to jump out of the way and those who don't like me can just point to that crazy old woman that is mad as a hatter.

I agree with you 100%, religion underlies the meanness and ruthlessness of society and no amount of good works will change what I recognize as lies and propaganda.

I fell a little like a 4th of July rocket that goes off from the dock and goes and goes and goes and goes and then explodes into a gigantic display of sparkles and exploding fuel. Not bad for old lady. It is hard for the kids to understand tho. I don't get mad at them, I get mad for them, when they are too young to know they are being abused.

I thought I had pretty much recovered from religion but I am still very angry.  I guess I haven't.  I agree with Meddlesome in that religion is the root of all evils in the world today from political evangelicals to outright terrorists.  I used to believe in live and let live but in light of the mischief done by religious sects today, I can no longer do this.

Yes, I think we do have a group in India but you would need to contact Sarah Morehead to find out for sure. We are very careful not to reveal where some groups are in places like India and Bangladesh since it can be dangerous. Email her at Sarah Morehead <> and tell her I referred you. If you have an interest in starting a group, let her know. She can help you with that as well.

THEOPSYCHOSIS!  That is the word! To whom do I give credit? Oh, it looks like James. Thank you James. I like the word.

"No amount of investigation, much less reason, will cure theopsychosis."

What a coincidence.  Just yesterday my quoted me a line with the same intent.  "Logic didn't bring these people to the position they hold now, so logic can't be used as a method of escape or cure."

I guess it's a question of deconditioning, a much more complicated process than reasoning and cold scientific facts.
