One thing I have noticed is a tendency to "doubt" my new path in life. I still want to reach for the Bible sometimes. I still hesitate somewhat when someone mentions Pascal's "Wager"...LOL! Even though I know that science teaches this and that no…Continue

Last night I was reading Seth Andrew's book, Deconverted, and I almost fell out of my chair when he discussed being forced to watch the end times film from the 1970's call "A Thief in the Night."  He described some of the scenes, and I had a…Continue

@ Fred, Very interesting comments about getting into the fresh air and away from religious indoctrination. There does seem to be some 'highs' that associated with religion. Being told that you can be saved, healed and delivered can be just what someone who suffers form low self esteem may need. (I'm not saying that you suffered from that, but many do and use religion to console their insecurities. I think we all deserve a pat on the back for escaping and remaining free from superstitious non sense.

I love the metaphor in the God Virus. I also see religion as similar to the "Borg" on Star Trek. Do any of you ever feel as if your past religious training occasionally tries to take root again? Once in a while it sure "talks" to me!

I don't get those ads. I heard one in the car the other day and thought it was a new Mastercard or some such campaign and then they got to "and I'm a Mormon" and I thought WHAT!?! For YEARS....decades and beyond they have built themselves up as "a peculiar people" and now they are just your normal everyday??? yeesh...

@ Michelle. Its takes time to get rid of the feelings. Im still geeting thru it after 5 yrs religion free. Keep getting stronger, and keep thinking clearly. I have to occupy my time and keep busy. That keeps the demons (lol) away and other stuff. You will be ok'

I am having issues trying to stop it with these stupid feelings of guilt over not believing in any gods. My husband asked me the other day how have I stayed off of drugs so long, and I told him i decided to stop and not to use. I felt kind of guilty. Religion really messes with the mind. Everyday i am getting stronger. I am thinking more clearly with less fear.

I am driving a tour bus for living in Las Vegas and at this time I am running a shuttle between hotels. For many months I had one religious fanatic riding with me and trying to convert me back. I have to admit that I like this kind of conversations, because I am showing them how stupid they are. Nevertheless about a week ago he was trying to explain the same story over and over again, so I finally asked him this way:
- Do Jesus was (is) also a God?
He said yes. Then I asked him again:
- Can anyone kill a God?
He said no. So I asked him:
- If no, so how come he been killed on the cross?
He did't answer, but also I did't seen him again. ;))

Telling the truth I don't even remember how long ago I dumped religion. It could be more then 45 years ago. I was a small kid at catholic church. Even then start thinking about, that things don't make sense. At the same time I was "eating" all informations about astro knowledge. Cold war in Space between US and Soviet Union only add a fuel to my interest in this subjects, so things from the bible was kind-of matching "my" theory. I think the turnaround in my interest piked at the moment I learned that there is a thing called "clinical death". Instantly I put this together with Jesus resurrection.
From this moment I knew, that people 2000 years ago had no clue about this possibility. This was enough for me.

Darrel, I think I'd do great on the Atheist-Experience but I'm doing the surgery next week and it'll take time to get my health back.

I still have a lot to say, so that'll help keep me going.

Thanks Mike. I have been totally surprised by how many people have watched or listened to that Atheist Experience episode (#645). It has led to several new RR groups getting started as well. You can download at this link: or search on iTunes.
