Unless you were raised by atheist parents, you probably had some recovering to do when you left religion. The purpose of RR is to provide a landing place for people when they jump from religion. With local support groups throughout the US, Canada, UK, and Australia, and real-time resources accessible to everyone, RR is where to turn when faith has lost its luster.

I wonder if anyone who's gone from faith to non-faith has done it relatively easily? I ask because, for me, it's not really been that tumultuous. I guess it has a lot to do with my upbringing. Despite my family being really religious, it has also…Continue

One thing I have noticed is a tendency to "doubt" my new path in life. I still want to reach for the Bible sometimes. I still hesitate somewhat when someone mentions Pascal's "Wager"...LOL! Even though I know that science teaches this and that no…Continue

I'm guessing many here walked away from one religion or another. What religion did you walk away from? Did you look at other religions, if so what ones? What made you settle on Atheism?Continue

I was adopted into a fundamentalist Seventh Day Adventist pastor's family. My parents loved me and I enjoyed a happy and secure childhood. Although I felt disappointed that I couldn't take dancing lessons, be involved with local theater or…Continue

Comment by James M. Martin on December 18, 2012 at 6:12pm @Regina Hilton Hotema wrote the preface to, I think, a reprint of a work by Gerald Massey, a 19th century Brit who debunked the Jesus myth as an amalgamation of ideas from paganism. Hotema's intro was an examination of Constantine's slaughter of dozens of bishops before the Council of Nicea, from which both Catholics and Anglicans derive their "Nicene Creed."
Comment by Patricia on December 18, 2012 at 12:40pm Tabitha,
I tried to find the direct link to Vincent M. Wales writings on here, but it looks like they've been taken down. Oh well, plenty of others.
Comment by Idaho Spud on December 18, 2012 at 11:19am Regina, I've heard thousands of stupidities from religious people, but "The lord doesn't like you thinking" may be the worst.
Comment by Tabitha McCoy on December 18, 2012 at 9:51am @ Regina xD I lol'd!
Comment by Regina Goodwin on December 17, 2012 at 11:57pm @Chris - I remember this so-called preacher was trying her best to convert me. I remember reading a book called by Hilton Hotema. She told me that it was wrong for me to read it. I asked her why, she said, I can tell that it made you think and the lord does not like that. I told her to piss up a rope.
I guess she is still trying to figure that out.
Comment by Chris Loren on December 17, 2012 at 11:01pm @regina....I know what you mean...same here, that's why I built my website....gives me a way to express this craziness with the hope that it will help someone to recover or at least begin to think...:-)
Comment by Tabitha McCoy on December 17, 2012 at 9:41am @ Joan That's really good that you're looking at it with a positive attitude :) Not condemning it or anything like that...
@Regina and Chris Thank you :) I just wish I could be free of all that is all...I mean, most of my family is Christian, and a lot of my friends are religious. It comes with the territory lol (Texas!).
Comment by Chris Loren on December 17, 2012 at 12:09am I support the cause....it took me 40 years to recover.
Comment by Regina Goodwin on December 16, 2012 at 11:24pm Tabitha, it takes years to re-format that hard drive. I am still erasing sectors. Be patient.
