Comment by L.Hunter on November 30, 2010 at 9:13am: Truly we all have stories of bitterness that we feel behind what religion has done to us and our families. I too have been divorced. I married someone I had no business dealing with, because it "better to marry than to burn (with passion)" . I look at my mom who has accomplished nothing in her life because she is waiting for the great by and by. Working for the after life instead of enjoying this one. Terrible shame.
I too hated people because I thought that's what god wanted. I no longer hate anyone for who and what they are. I use reason over emotion and today I have the best life imaginable. I've been religion free for about 5 yrs now and loving it. I'm glad for all of us and the work we have done to overcome delusion.

I turned me into a hater of homosexuals/lesbians and anyone else I could find to hate. I thought I was better than "you people" because sky daddy said I was the apple of his all seeing eye. I thought I was born a piece of crap. I had to pray every time I had a negative thought because sky daddy knew what I was thinking. I am very angry....still. The 2 christian husbands I have had took advantage of the loyalty I had to the bible and treated me with no respect. well not anymore. I don't hate christians I think they are good people trying to live better lives and become the opposite of what they are trying to achieve. Religion turns people into hateful, self centered, greedy monsters. I know its true because once I gave up religious I stopped hating people for being gay. If being gay is a choice...then so is being straight a choice. Hate who I was. I am proud of who I am becoming.
