Hi I am not completely new to this, but still only a year or so, and haven't really told much of anyone except my daughter and hubby...I tend to say things that should give it away, and I also get irritated at celebrities who thank "their lord and savior" when they do something good.

I grew up and lived a lot of my life with the christian delusions passed on to me by my well meaning family members.  I loved the socialization of church, but started having trouble with all the crap that made no sense to me.  I never thought someone else was supposed to make me not responsible for my own actions.  I always felt I could figure out the difference between right and wrong without needing god to tell me.  Those were the first two little problems I had.  The longer and harder I looked, the worse it got.

Anyway, my daughter started telling everyone she was an atheist about 6 or seven years ago.  At first, I didn't like it, but looking back, I think it was more because I was having a lot of doubts myself.  I supported her, and continued to love her, because that is what good parents do.  With time, and more investigation, I saw what I really believed.

Hello all! I am new to the page, and fairly new to atheism (within the last four months) Life is good! My family is mostly still in the dark as to my new path, and the ones that do know seem to be keeping their distance,it's as if they fear catching atheism. I came to my decision to leave faith by really reading the bible, then my hubby and I spent countless hours reading and studying everything we could get our hands on. And we ended up here.

And apparently, he deleted my comment. Well, he didn't lash out, and its his FB wall, so be it. If he wasn't my brother, though, I'd have cut his feed from my news, right off. I guess I'll have to cut his feed, now.

Thanks, L. Hunter. ...Well, my brother posted an atheist joke to FB, so I had to comment back and flip it back on the theists... I consider myself of the pantheist flavor, so I was kind enough to toss in a coin for pantheism, too. If you can't make fun of yourself, then you certainly shouldn't go making fun of others. I hope he's able to laugh, too, since he dished it out first. If not, I'll just have to ignore his FB feed.

@ nerdlass. My experience has been that most believers simply don't get what we're saying. Repaired articulate arguments they don't process the information. My best friends, mother and others still think I'm going through a phase after 6 yrs. I allergy to them about the reliability of the bible, failure of churches and historicity of Jesus. They just don't get it.
