Seems to me that substantive dialogue belongs in the discussions, not on the wall. With that in mind, statement about what constitutes the left have been cavalier and quite childish. Louis Farrakhan is hardly part of the left; he is on the far right. And since when are PETA, Dworkin and Mackinnon, and others named part of the left? How ignorant can you be?

I can see a more detailed historical review is in order. If one wanted to define the black left worldwide historically, one could include such figures as W.E.B. Du Bois, C.L.R. James, George Padmore, Hubert Henry Harrison, Richard B. Moore, Langston Hughes, Paul Robeson, Richard Wright, Lorraine Hansberry, and thousands of other famous people. But to characterize Farrakhan as a figure on the left or even a champion of black rights is so egregiously ignorant, it immediately disqualifies one from being taken seriously. Farrakhan talks tough, but like his mentor Elijah Mohammed, he was militantly opposed to progressive political movements and is only interested in building a mini-business empire based in black communities, hence capitalizing on segregation and installing himself as savior of the black community. There has been a split for a century between left and right wings of the black liberation movement in the USA, the Caribbean, and elsewhere. Marcus Garvey, opposed by Padmore, Du Bois, and ultimately Harrison, also belongs on the right.

One can use certain words like "left" and "liberal" as irresponsibly and promiscuously as one likes, esp. in America where there is no accountability for ignorance, but that doesn't make it acceptable, esp. in a forum allegedly dedicated to exposing propaganda.
I think the point is that propaganda is a negative form of argument (unfortunately effective also) from a logical point of view no matter what side of the political/religious/economic it comes from.

You telling me they vote GOP ? They're all certainly a favourite bunching bag for conservative pundits.

If anything, you are raising the irrelevancy of the left/right classification meme. They're all nutjobs, they just grind different axes. But to humbly address your lofty rebuke of my childishness -

Mackinnon spends an awful lot of time on Marxist reflections on feminism and vice versa. I'm sure there's a Neocon red carpet with her name embroidered in gold waiting.

Dworkin ? Please explain Right-Wing Women: The Politics of Domesticated Females

PETA ? Yes, I'm sure they're all for Texas cattle ranches and rodeos.

Farrakhan ? Obviously his endorsement and labelling of Obama as "the Messiah" must have been concocted during one of his New American Century thinktank sessions as an attempt to derail the Democrats.

Is there anything I omitted ?

How ignorant can you be?

I dunno. Why dontcha tell me ?

My, you are a pugnacious one. Elsewhere -

Isn't Deloitte itself the very essence of bullshit?

How about you use the tool prior to dismissing it purely on the grounds of its corporate origins ?

On the subject of word usage, what is your fondness for permutations of the word "ignorant" ? 2 comments, 3 uses. I find many minorities use it - the usage tends to grow proportionately with size of the chip on their shoulders. We have a local boxer, Islam convert, 911 apologist, indiginous activist and all-round blabbermouth Anthony Mundine who can't go for more than 30 seconds without injecting "ignorant" into his verbal diarrhoea.

If my comments and posts aren't clear enough, please tell me what comprehension level I should be aiming at. And how about contributing some content instead of nit-picking ?
