Does a double negative make a positive?

Greetings and welcome to the Atheist Nexus polyamory group. This group is for those who are ethically non-monogamous, or who are considering ethical non-monogamy.

Since this group is new and evolving, your input, advice, constructive criticism, monetary donations to support Atheist Nexus (Button pushers, press the Big Green Button to the right of this screen!), etc... are highly appreciated.

Why yet another group for polyamorous people?

I'm glad you asked! The internet is positively hoachin' with poly groups. I (Kit Ann Kaboodle) have been a member of quite a few online groups for polyamorous people over the years, including an email list for non-monogamous people to meet-and-greet in the flesh. I have at times found myself being talked around, or ignored for being an atheist.

After hearing a couple of other people say that they felt marginalized in polyamorous/ethically non-monogamous groups where religious and/or "spiritual, but not religious" people were in the majority, I thought that Atheist Nexus would be a good place for us.

Feel free to invite your friends/acquaintances/other likely potential members.

I know that's what has kept my wife and I from joining the local poly scene. It's heavily pagan-oriented, and I'm an atheist married to a Christian.

I am back in the dating pool (not quite in the deep end yet) and doing the internet dating and really loathing all the ideas of "looking for someone to complete me", "looking for my prince charming", "looking for that someone special", "looking for my one true love". I never really bought into that whole notion of relationships to begin with, and after being married and divorced twice, you have to take a step back and look at what the expectations are for most couples when it comes to relationships. It seems based on Disney fairy tales and Romantic Comedies. I am not looking for completion, I already am complete. I am looking for a partner, a friend, a lover, an intellectual equal. And if that partner finds someone else who meets other needs, I am only too happy to see them explore and fulfill those needs (and we ain't just talkin' sex here!), and allow me the opportunity to do the same. All of this in an open, honest, mature way, that is respectful to all people involved. If that is what polyamory is - where do I sign up?
