Religion has so many connections to political and economic beliefs, there needs to be a place to identify linkages, problems, goals, options, action plans and evaluation criteria.

An eternal question, what is the purpose of life?, occupied philosophers’ thoughts throughout history. Stone pictographs reveal even primitive peoples reflected on this query. Each one has the capacity to define his or her personal thinking about politics, economics and religion.

Comment by michele ricketts on February 9, 2013 at 1:04am Dire effects of dna fiddling that is no gaurded knowlege over the internet. Using that for political and economic gain
Comment by michele ricketts on February 8, 2013 at 6:53pm I was watching a political drama called House Of Cards, a BBC series from 1994. It is about a politician's corrupt path to prime master. He does battle with the King of England who thinks like a socialist !!! and wants to influence the country to stand up for itself against the oligarchy that has been building since Thatcher reigned, basically putting all the tools in place to dismantle the socialist influence of the last 80yrs. So you see the cynical idea that the rich and politically powerful are looking down their noses at those pesky ideas and a return to the good old days was being posited back in 1994.In theory, in a UK drama but in any case.
I would not be so cynical to think there is a monied elite who want to condition american soceity away from when "the american dream" worked as a defunct socialist influence experiment debunked. 40% of the wealth in 2% of the counties richest families, corporations cannot be regulated as accountable individuals, big banks above the law of the land- it is the rise of an untouchable unnaccountable aristocracy alright . They are counting on being a lingering influence- beat down the expectations of the next couple of generations and elitism becomes normalised. However i don't think there is time for anything to normalise when dire effects of global warming hit. I'm hopefull it will shake things up to a new order since global warming was caused by greed and ignorance in the first place. Therefore a new awareness to curb those forces just as socialism in the 20th century stymied run-away capitalism from the industrial revolution of the 19th.People used to cling to their religion in bad times in the past, in the West anyway, but while they will sublimate as they always, the new order is to go Online than for the next generation to scratch their heads and pray.
Comment by michele ricketts on February 8, 2013 at 5:28pm There is a video between Mark Taibbi and Bill Moyers in rollingstone/ politics "Why bankers don't go to Jail" that could not be more explicit. The Untouchables. Government dare not put bankers in the dock because other bankers will cause havoc or the excuse is IT will cause havoc. Meanwhile the revolving door between large banks ( and corporations) and government BLATENTLY free from the law. This is making a mockery of democracy-unabated and still growing....
Comment by Tom Sarbeck on February 8, 2013 at 2:12am Aw, Joan, some nits are bigger than others. The CIA has its infamous black budget it uses to hire thugs and the gov'ment doesn't let mere taxpayers see it.
Maybe organized gov'ments do as much harm as organized religions.
Comment by Joan Denoo on February 7, 2013 at 10:41pm Well, does it really matter if if it is the POTUS, CIA, or hired thugs, we have due process and that is what makes USA strong ... or, at least that is the mythology.
Comment by Tom Sarbeck on February 7, 2013 at 9:28pm "Extrajudicial executions/assassinations are being carried out by the Obama administration and U. S. military...."
Whoops, the CIA has at least since 1953 been helping.
