Religion has so many connections to political and economic beliefs, there needs to be a place to identify linkages, problems, goals, options, action plans and evaluation criteria.

An eternal question, what is the purpose of life?, occupied philosophers’ thoughts throughout history. Stone pictographs reveal even primitive peoples reflected on this query. Each one has the capacity to define his or her personal thinking about politics, economics and religion.

Stupid has no cure! Sadly, Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX), an Ob/Gyn by trade, told his colleagues to, “Watch a sonogram of a 15-week baby, and they have movements that are purposeful”.Well of course "they have movements that are purposeful". They are…Continue

Obviously, there are those who recognize the abuse of power, even by our beloved president, who inherited power abuses and refused to give those powers up. Why should he? Human beings have a love of power more than a love of people.Snowden indicates…Continue

"US has seen “the share of national income going to the top 1%... doubled since 1980 from 10 to 20%.
"For the top 0.01% it has quadrupled to levels never seen before.”
“Globally the incomes of the top 1% have increased 60% in twenty years.
"The growth in income for the 0.01% has been even greater.”
"The financial crisis has only accelerated the process of the 1% gaining even greater wealth."

Comment by Joan Denoo on January 20, 2013 at 5:35pm Chris, and those of you who don't want to read any more bad news, I understand; however, I urge you to put on your armor, gather those around you who can give you support, and take on this challenge.
The Shock Doctrine - Naomi Klein
This video defines and describes Shock Doctrine and its implications for us, today. If we are to turn this into an opportunity to learn, we can know that chaos and panic yield us no freedom; we need clear thinking, calm recognitions of what is happening and why, and recognition that action with thought are the only ways to overcome the tyranny and terror being dealt out.
Comment by Joan Denoo on January 20, 2013 at 3:55pm Ruth, try one of these. It is important we understand the meaning of this economic disaster because Latvia and Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, and many other countries Agreed to the demands of USA and International Monetary Fund, all countries developed a rise in the poverty class and rise in wealth, rise in unemployment, and much of S. America turned to Socialist leaders in retaliation. The system doesn't work and these countries and others can prove it.
The major difference between Latvia and those other countries, is the labor force of Latvia didn't dispute, picket, or organize resistance, they packed up their belongings and moved out of the country. As the Latvian Government claims austerity works, I wonder what they will do when they realize their working people are leaving quietly.
Latvia’s Economic Disaster as a Neoliberal Success Story
"A generation ago the Chicago Boys and their financial supporters applauded General Pinochet’s anti-labor Chile as a success story, thanks mainly to its transformation of their Social Security into Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) that almost universally were looted by the employer grupos by the end of the 1970s."
Do read Naomi Klein's "The Shock Doctrine" or watch
Comment by Joan Denoo on January 19, 2013 at 7:28pm Phil, you give voice to my anguish, and I am sure, many others' as well. We shake our fists as we let out guttural sounds for the wounded and dead, "The irreversibly tragic circumstances that this nation's noxious, reality-defiant attitudes toward these tools of death (and death alone) have inflicted on their lives."

It's horrible, Joan, at times I must make myself think of something else, because what happens is unbearable. The Israelis are as murderous as their god. I recommend that they retreat within the borders of 1921 and build a wall around it. I'll be ready to lock the entrance and throw away the key.
