Back on the first page of this commentary, where the debate with the Irish president (who was foreign minister at the time) and the wingnut radio host (in a pub in Galway, only in Ireland), at the very bottom of the post is a note that the full interview can be heard at another link provided (the Irish radio station which carried the debate, twenty minutes). It puts the entire interview in context, with the American radio host tearing down all things American, and the Irish foreign minister (now President) standing up for all things American and America. That seems a bit inverted. . . .

Obama doesn't want President Bush punished for what are perceived as assasinations for a reason. The 1 million deaths you mentioned occurred in the theatre of war. A war many don't approve of but consent for that war was obtained by Congress and the U.N.

Mr. Nobel peace prize Obama however commits assasinations by drone on a regular basis in countries with and without approval and thousands of innocent people have been murdered by these drone strikes along with the intended targets.

In terms of legality, what Bush did was sanctioned war, what Obama is doing is outright murder.  If what Bush did goes to court, than what Obama is doing will definitely end up in court.  And regardless of how much people like Obama, drone strike murders would put Obama away a long time.

There's is a double standard when it comes to assassination, one standard for Africans, Eastern Europeans, Arabs, Asians, and Latin Americans. They will be prosecuted for wars of aggression, war crimes, etc. 
There is another standard for Europeans and the USA who don't want to be prosecuted. President Obama believes that USA and Great Britain do not need to come to terms with the legacy of the Bush administration As a consequence of this kind of belief, Mr. Bush and his administration are responsible for up to 1 million deaths in Iraq; no reflection and no accountability occurs. When we have a situation of complete and utter impunity, where people can act without consequences it provokes the worst sort of animal spirits.
