We continue to hear people say that USA is the "best" country to live in and that we provide opportunity for all without consideration for race, sex, sexual orientation or religion.
That is simply not the case. A very quick look for data reveals the delusion. Not all children have access to nutritious food, clean water, good education, basic health care, and decent living conditions. It is not the government's responsibility to take care of every one, but as long as we live during a time when machines have taken over much of the labor previously done by humans, and jobs have been sent to developing countries because of cheaper labor costs, there simply are not enough jobs to go around. This problem has no simple answer, but to delude ourselves about USA being a land of opportunity just does not hold up to scrutiny.
