Yes, Joan - Obama has his problems - I agree.

Permalink Reply by Joan Denoo on October 19, 2012 at 9:09pm August, 1953, Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh, the democratically elected Prime Minister was overthrown. It was the most genuine democratic government in the history of Iran and was overthrown through an Anglo-American coup called "Operation Ajax". The act against the nation had been plotted and put into action by the CIA.

I remember when USA put the autocratic absolute monarch, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran into power and his repressive government. Resistance and turmoil did not cause the nation to flourish.
I remember 1979 when the people of Iran overthrew the hated Shaw and replaced him with Islamic Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the revolution, which was an anti-Western country. Can you blame them?
I wonder what would have happened if USA and CIA had not interfered with Mossadegh". Oh, I know, there was the great fears during the Cold War of Communism and Socialism and many interventions followed.
I especially remember Viet Nam because my former husband was a battle field surgeon on the front lines of battle. I read everything I could about Viet Nam and its history. I became an anti-vietnam war advocate when I realized that country was fighting for its sovereignty. I wonder how many other countries were fighting for their homelands and USA/CIA imposed rules on them.
I also know USA/CIA intervened in South America, imposing economic and political restrictions on them and caused terrible spreads of rich from poor, with great suffering. The USA seems to think our economic and political system works and everyone should follow our instructions.
Well, USA doesn't have such a good history when it comes to collapses. Just read our history about the Recessions and Depressions of USA and the Long Depressions:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_recessions_in_the_United_States.
The Panic of 1896 devastated my ancestors and that started their migration to the West, broke, lost everything they owned and worked for, and many of their ancestors had fought for in the Civil War.
Now here comes the big question: what on Earth were we doing intervening in all these countries?
