We have already read from former posts by others and myself, that many peak events converge to make Earth and all its living forms threatened. Whether examining oceans, fresh water supplies, air and soils, unwise and wasteful procedures of human activity create unintended but real problems. Who supports these practices? Who pays to maintain control over them? How do they help or harm our lives? We need to pay attention to human decisions and their consequences.

On conservative talk radio they go into quite a bit of detail about how the communists are behind the environmental movement. They say the names of leaders who were in such and such party, and who are now heads of this and that environmental party. I am all for preserving the environment, but thing both of the two major parties aren't REALLY interested in it. I think I agree that communists are heads of both environmental and humanity-based groups. I dislike it. I love clean, pure nature. I live on 15 wooded acres, right next to 200+ mostly wooded acres. I wanna cry when I see so many people move to this area and immediately bulldoze/burn down the woods. A golfcourse-type lawn is ok in the 'burbs. I wish the 'burbs would stay in the 'burbs!!! Lately, because the economy is so bad and PROPERTY TAXES are going up for so many, landowners with large wooded lots are selling of their trees to logging companies. When I moved here, I heard LOTS of coyote. I rarely hear any now. Very sad!!! A 'conservation easement', which is a tax-forgiveness or tax-lowering tool, should only go to those who truly conserve the woods (IMO).
I don't hear liberals complain enough about all of the useless JUNK we westerners buy and don't really need. The focus should be on being or doing more, not on owning more CRAP!! And maybe we should try to use less paper and insist that the US Mail not shove such useless advertising in our mailboxes. Those trees used to make that trash once sheltered wildlife and held in the soil to protect it from erosion.
If we were more upset about obesity, we'd see how overeating also means over-farming land that could be wooded or natural. Leaving the land natural should give one a tax break to encourage natural places. And how do local gov'ts get away with building on properties that local donors left to the gov't to be used ONLY as natural, unbuilt public spaces?!
Tonya, when you wrote, "I think I agree that communists are heads of both environmental and humanity-based groups." What evidence do you have to think communists head environmental and human based groups?
Is it because we speak up for the environment? Or that we caution about climate change? Or that we deplore the exploitation of workers? Can you be more specific?
