It's our unelected corporate government (a much more accurate framing than "corporate America").

I read a phrase, in Foreign Affairs no less (the magazine of the Council on Foreign Relation) referring to the religio-industrial complex forcing its way into our government (shudder)

James Kz, I Googled "Foreign Affairs + Council on Foreign Relation + religio-industrial complex" and came up with many old articles and they referred to Islam. Do you have a date or a title to help me narrow down the article to which you refer?
