Many questions are more important then the expected number of gods in the Universe. We deal with the laws and phenomena of Nature.

Hi folks, just joined the site a few days ago.  I'm a student studying physics and mathematics in the honors program at New York University, and am trying to become a working theoretical physicist (read: be an academic).  My research interests are mainly cosmology and quantum gravity - totally not celebrity science at all!

In all seriousness, good to be here.

Hi everyone. I just joined "physicists". I think I am still one - BS is Physics 43 years ago - professional geophysicist for many of those years. Lots of good stuff these days for arm chair physicists: Science Channel's "How the Universe Works," and "Through the Wormhole" are both great. They seem to reflect Brian Greene's books "The Fabric of the Cosmos," and The Elegant Universe." Also reflective of Hawkings "A Brief History of Time." If you haven't seen the new Science channel offerings I recommend them. In one episode of Wormhole, they described new evidence being found for alternate universes and detecting the limits of our own universe (by studying heterogneities in the backgrund microwave radiation field left over from the Big Bang - very interesting and it was new to me...(not saying much actually). These are all great references. Sure doesn't sound much like what you read in Genesis.

All words have definitions and all everythings require thought in the context of being a human with "knowledge".

By definition God would have to be above all things "all powerful".

If you cannot accept that even a fictious God would be all powerful the is no reason to discuss God just as you could not reason thier is NO god. If you do not want to think that is your right. I prefer to find situations that allow a God because if I can elliminate all those then there is further proof there is no God. Funny how you an atheist think i do not know jack-shit about God, when you do not think one exists.

NOW put on your thinking cap, stop being as closed minded (like a creationist) and READ.

An ALL POWERFUL GOD would have to be able to do, know, control and cause ALL.

The Standard model in physics  attempts to group our understanding of all things into groups.

If you do not understand mass, energy and space/time go educate yourself.

If you understand gravity, mass, time and energy are related ( and make up all things) you understand  the speed of light limits size in our 4D world by the mathematics of quantum theory. In other words if a mass is to small or a unit of time is to small for light and gravity to effect them they cannot effect us, and do not exists in our Universe. But the smartest guy in the world (Roger Penrose) has mathematicaly determined it is possible the twin double helix of DNA and the complexity of the brain is constructed in such a way it cannot be mechanically created and life, consciouness and perceotion require SUB-QUANTUM asspects or abilities. This means below measuable space our brain converts chemicals into useable information the way holograms create a percievable 3D images on TV making them 4D, and are crated from 1D (computer programs in binary). If I have not lost you GREAT, if I have buy Penroses book "The Emperor's New Mind".

Now lets talk about a fictitous GOD, if time cannot be broken down to more than (planck time) 513190000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 parts per second, as per quantum mechanics. Then TV is shown on a screen at 30 frames a second and your mind cannot percieve more than plank time frames per second.

If you are lost read the book Quantum Mechanics for Dummies. No one can prove or disprove (yet) that God can control ALL with the ability to move, create or think faster than plank time.

There could be a GOD, but we will never know. What we do know is photons, electrons and even some atoms have disappeared in less than plank time and some times return and some timess not.

You can think the way God does because you have an imagination.

I want to join NAP but it seems to require membership in facebook.

I do not like facebook, no control over privacy and it gets out of control.

Is there a way to contact and help out without facebook?

I don't think they were on the list of available parties when I signed up to vote in CA.

@ Cane, You might be interested in the National Atheist Party

"We are an American political party, uniquely formed as a true, constitutional movement, reaching out to all who seek a secular government as outlined in the First Amendment to our United States Constitution. Our mission: To politically represent U.S. atheists and all who are drawn to our mandate, in a political process that has thus far marginalized and ignored one of the largest and growing segments of the U.S. population...."
