It is my opinion that Pensacola really needs to have an 'atheist presence', if you will.  As individuals it's easy for people to dismiss us and it's really easy for people who don't KNOW any atheists…Continue

I started a support group for secular parents in Pensacola. We've invited Dale McGowan to hold a Parenting Beyond Belief seminiar on July 16, 2011. Whether you have kids or not, it's exciting to have Dale come to our ultra conservative area so please consider attending so you can learn about future parenting or maybe you can learn how to talk to friends and family that are parents about secular parenting. You can find out more on our website, http://secularfamilynetwork.com.

Hi everyone. I recognize Muhsin but not anyone else here with a quick glance. I don't think Pensacola atheists see a need to post here only because we have such an awesome thing going on here locally. If you haven't joined one of our meetups, you should! http://www.meetup.com/Gulf-Coast-Freethinkers/.

Good evening everyone! I'm a new member to this group, and I am hoping to find freethinkers and nontheists in the Emerald Coast area. I've walked a long road--as I'm sure you have--to get where I am, and I'd love a chance to talk to people at the same place in free thought that I have arrived at. The Bible Thumpers do not control everyone in our town!

Sorry folks, I am SO broke right now- I can't really meet for anything.
This is the busy time of year for me. I really recommend that you all join http://www.meetup.com/Gulf-Coast-Freethinkers/
I didn't go to the Hemant Mehta event due to no funds and no time, but it looks like they do things regularly and are already organized.
If anyone else wants to plan something for this group, feel free to make a suggestion and go for it.

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/texas-merry-christmas-bill_n_3312786.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
