Atheist Nexus PFC Profile page
Our official website: www.PeachtreeFreethinkers.org

Our goal is not to replace any current non-theist group but to provide a venue for the void of interactive and engaging activities targeted to Atlanta's more active and youthful professional freethinkers of all ages (18-98).

We welcome all freethinkers regardless of age (18+), race, sex/gender, or sexual orientation (we don't have religious dogma to use as a basis for discrimination). This is not a singles group so couples are also welcome.

Social & Recreational Activities
These outings include mixers, movies, plays, dinners, cookouts, potlucks, ball games, cultural events, parties, outdoor recreational activities, etc. One of our objectives is to have a variety of events and those events that are similar (mixers, dinners, etc.) to be at different locations and varied days of the week.

Peachtree Freethinkers supports and encourages responsible drinking so access to public transit (MARTA, BUC, Cliff, etc.) is a factor when choosing a location for our social mixers at restaurants and bars. Most mixers are in the Midtown and Buckhead areas.

Educational Activities
We will organize, host, and attend educational events including forums, debates, book and movie discussions, presentations by authors, research scientists, political or other community leaders, and others along with other informative and engaging programs.

Community Involvement
We participate in charities and community service projects. We are an organization partner for the For the Kid in All of Us annual charity events Backpack in the Park and The Toy Party.

Smoking
All of our events are non-smoking.

I take it that this group no longer meets?

One day I will go to the Peachtree City meeting/social. I am curious, though, about how many actual atheiss there are in the group, as opposed to Christians or others. At Atlanta Freethought Society, I was a bit shocked when we all went into a group discussion about what to call ourselves. I thought 'atheist' was just fine and needed no amending or softening up. I got the feeling that they weren't comfortable with themselves or atheism and I couldn't warm up to that feeling or to them because of it. I'll go back there, but not monthly, for sure.
