Kids find out about these holidays - can't keep their existence a secret. We do a small cheap basket every year for him to find. I can't stand the crowds for the egg hunts. Plus, don't want to give my name to the churches hosting them. So ... we just do a basket and he's happy. I never celebrated it as a kid, so wasn't sure how to do it. My son's happy.

I never wanted to do anything for Easter either but we ended up doing egg hunts because one of the kids had done one at pre-school and wanted to do one at home. No bunny, no baskets...if they ask it's just a fun thing to do to celebrate the change to spring. They rarely ask questions when candy is involved. :)

I just tell my kids that it's Easter and so we get to eat chocolates....  :)

When my daughter was little, we always had egg hunts.  It was so much fun to go out into the garden to hide the eggs, and then for her to search for them.  We never attached it to anything... it was just a fun little thing to do.  Personally, I look at it as more of a pagan ritual than a christian one, but either way, it was just plain fun.  Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a good time!

I despise Easter even before I was an atheist. Now I am a parent and have to decide what to tell my 4 year old about this silly holiday. I don't want to tell him there is a magical bunny leaving him a basket, but I also don't want him to loose a childhood experience. What do you all do/suggest? Thanks
