Welcome to Parenting Little Heathens

Hi moms and dads. Welcome to the parenting without religion group here at A|N. Please feel free to post an introduction, tell us about yourself or if you'd rather not, just jump right into any discussion.

Before you get started I would like you to be familiar with our Posting Rules and Guidelines. This will help clarify what this group is and what topics are appropriate or inappropriate.

Also, you might be interested in our list of atheist related parenting resources list. This is a work in progress, if you've found something you think is a good fit please post a reply and I'll see about adding it.

If at any time you would like to contact me, the easiest way is to send a private message through my page. However, in order to send any member a PM you must first be their friend.

Thank you for joining the group, I hope you enjoy being here.

CFI-Portland is bringing author and educator Dale McGowan to Portland, OR for a unique seminar about parenting without religion. It will be held at Friendly House in NW Portland on Saturday, April 21st, from 1 to 5pm. Learn about "practical solutions for secular parenting in a religious world." Tickets for the Parenting & Grandparenting Beyond Belief workshop are $35 per person ($65 per couple, $25 for Friends of the Center), and can be purchased here: http://action.centerforinquiry.net/site/Calendar?id=102161&view....

Several children's music friends of mine are celebrating because yesterday a compilation CD they contributed to won a Grammy award! I bring this up because the CD is called All About Bullies Big and Small. Skeptical Blogger - maybe you'll want to review it for your blog! http://allaboutbulliesbigandsmall.com/albums/all-about-bullies-big-...

Hi skep blogger. There's so much bullying everywhere, it seems no matter how much society says bulling is bad we seem to see it more and more. How I wonder do we teach kids (generally) not to be bullies when so many adults are? Anyway, I will check out your blog. I'm not stalking :) but I noticed you are in Concord - I grew up in Epsom just down Rte 4 a ways and still have family in the area. Welcome.

Hi all!  How nice to find this site and, even better, this group!

For an introduction:  I was a stay at home dad for 5 years before going back to school for a master's in social work.  Now I work with an agency that does training for child protective workers.  An experience with bullying that my 7 year old daughter recently had at school has prompted my wife and I to take a more mindful approach to parenting as atheists and humanists.  It's nice to find a place to explore approaches and solutions to the unique struggles of parenting as an atheist in a theistic world.  If you're interested, and willing to bear with the cliche, I just started a blog about it called The Humanist Household.  Anyway, I look forward to participating in the group and getting to know you all.  Hope you all had a great Darwin Day yesterday!
