Comment by GBM Harper on February 13, 2012 at 10:12am Several children's music friends of mine are celebrating because yesterday a compilation CD they contributed to won a Grammy award! I bring this up because the CD is called All About Bullies Big and Small. Skeptical Blogger - maybe you'll want to review it for your blog! http://allaboutbulliesbigandsmall.com/albums/all-about-bullies-big-...
Comment by Jennifer Hancock on February 13, 2012 at 9:01am Hi Skeptical Blogger -great blog - consider adding it to the Humanist webring at: http://www.webring.org/t/Humanist-Ring?sid=1
Hi skep blogger. There's so much bullying everywhere, it seems no matter how much society says bulling is bad we seem to see it more and more. How I wonder do we teach kids (generally) not to be bullies when so many adults are? Anyway, I will check out your blog. I'm not stalking :) but I noticed you are in Concord - I grew up in Epsom just down Rte 4 a ways and still have family in the area. Welcome.
Comment by Skeptical Blogger on February 13, 2012 at 7:27am Hi all! How nice to find this site and, even better, this group!
For an introduction: I was a stay at home dad for 5 years before going back to school for a master's in social work. Now I work with an agency that does training for child protective workers. An experience with bullying that my 7 year old daughter recently had at school has prompted my wife and I to take a more mindful approach to parenting as atheists and humanists. It's nice to find a place to explore approaches and solutions to the unique struggles of parenting as an atheist in a theistic world. If you're interested, and willing to bear with the cliche, I just started a blog about it called The Humanist Household. Anyway, I look forward to participating in the group and getting to know you all. Hope you all had a great Darwin Day yesterday!

Hey maybe if enough people swamp his fb page, he'll shoot his own computer, too ...
Comment by Bryanderthal on February 10, 2012 at 6:43pm You rolled her eyes!?!?!? Shoulda just shot her laptop! ;)
I agree though. He's the big man and we all know it.... >.>
Comment by HotMess on February 10, 2012 at 6:10pm Apparently this is a huge viral hit. I have a 17 year old and when she used to get this way we just rolled her eyes and sometimes laughed at her. We still have a lot of difficulties with her, but watching this video, I just see someone stroking his own ego, not really trying to discipline his child.
Honestly, the first time I saw this on FB I was disgusted by his reading the letter and making it public and didn't bother to watch until the end. My opinion hasn't changed from sitting through the entire thing now. I can't think of a single nice thing to say so I'll just say IMO he's made his bed, now he has to lie in it.
Comment by Bryanderthal on February 10, 2012 at 2:42pm I raised an eyebrow but then thought about what my dad would have done to me if he caught me writing something like that and thought that this guy wasn't so bad. Something similar did happen in my family recently regarding my 13 year old daughter, me, and FB. I talked to her about it, let her know how much it hurt my feelings, and then apologized for getting angry (oh, I was pissed, too!) and told her that we both needed time apart to think about what happened. Within the hour she was back on FB making amends and everything has been alright since. No public humiliation needed and I never once felt the need to pull out my firearm...
