Welcome to Parenting Little Heathens

Hi moms and dads. Welcome to the parenting without religion group here at A|N. Please feel free to post an introduction, tell us about yourself or if you'd rather not, just jump right into any discussion.

Before you get started I would like you to be familiar with our Posting Rules and Guidelines. This will help clarify what this group is and what topics are appropriate or inappropriate.

Also, you might be interested in our list of atheist related parenting resources list. This is a work in progress, if you've found something you think is a good fit please post a reply and I'll see about adding it.

If at any time you would like to contact me, the easiest way is to send a private message through my page. However, in order to send any member a PM you must first be their friend.

Thank you for joining the group, I hope you enjoy being here.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to mention that I will be checking in here only occasionally for a bit. We just bought a house and are busy with the usual tasks home buying entails.

Go Egan! : ) I've got 3 of them - and do my best to treat them like people -

You guys were soooo right. JohnD, I'm gonna have to get me some of that troll filtering software ;)

@ Beach bum: That may be but anyone who wishes to continue this discussion needs to start a new discussion please. I may join you there.

Though I think Egan lacks diplomacy, he does make valid points. He is being rational. He should have posted a discussion instead of a comment on the wall, but I happen to agree with a lot of what he says. It seems to me that some of the other group members have been disrespectful to him immediately following his first comment and set the tone for the rest of the comments.

Personally, I had biological children for selfish reasons and I am not afraid to stand up and admit that. Though in my defense, my husband and I have two children who will replace us when we die. Maybe not the best justification but better than nothing.

Thanks Dawn! :-)

I am sorry Wanderer.

At this point I politely ask everyone to stop responding to egan here on the comment wall. If he is serious about this discussion he will move it to the discussion area as I asked him to hours ago.

egan, if you choose to continue in this group you will follow the guidelines. You are engaging in ad hominem attacks and they must stop.

Thank you everyone.

I'm really confused as to why you'd want to post on this board in the first place, given your opinions, which you are perfectly allowed to have. Others are allowed to have their opinions also. This particular board is not for your debate on whether or not people should have children. Find another please. I quote from the group guidelines...

"This group exists for the purpose of discussing issues relating to parenting and raising our children. PLH is meant to be a comfortable place that parents of A/N can come to share information, ask for advice, share their child's achievements, or just vent about issues they may be facing in their family."

Who ever is in charge of the group, is there anything that can be done against trolling?

Here Egan, this might help: http://www.say-it-in-english.com/BasicEnglish8.html

It won't make your arguments any more rational, but at least your text won't appear as juvenile.

It would seem that my previous comment was directed largely at Egan. However, the rest of you guys should also have suggested this, rather than having it all out here in the public where all 868 members of this group have to listen to it (or at least delete dozens of emails!).
