I've read a few articles on the "new" Atheist camp sponsored by Richard Dawkins,.Camp Quest. It would seem that many of the people who write about this camp not only think it's something new, but they think that children are being targeted by Atheists. This is funny when you think of the abundance of religious propaganda through camps, ads, and schools that have been around for a lot longer than Atheists have been strong enough to speak up.

It is not sponsored by Richard Dawkins, read more on corrections to the Camp Quest UK article:

Camp Quest is a great opportunity for young people. I wouldn't call it an "Atheist" camp as much as a science camp that encourages above all critical thinking.

Regardless, I'm glad that these camps are becoming more available.
Well duh! ;o) A secular camp that encourages children to use reason and logical thought while having fun certainly isn't going to place ads in the Baptist Daily Tribune or on Falwell .com.

That being said, I know my son always has some liberal xians in the group at Camp Quest Ohio each year...they're not targeting atheist kids, per se, they're targeting kids from open minded homes.
Not my fault that mostly non theists fit that bill.....< grin >
It's kind of funny in a sad way. I read this whole thing on Friendly Atheist also. How on earth did they even get the Richard Dawkins connection. Was it like, Richard Dawkins is a prominent atheist. Camp Quest is for atheists therefore it must be Dawkins camp. ???

Ridiculous.
I think the Dawkins Foundation made a one time donation, or sponsored a group of kids to go to the UK camp, and the news outlets jumped all over it. Hooray for the media.
