I did come to think of it. They stated it wasn't the same issue. When I questioned the reasoning behind it, they stated faith in god, the eternal who created us, was different then a science we made up. Screaming would have been counter productive. So after some cleansing breaths, I calmly stated it was, in fact, the same. The difference is evolution has been proven on numerous occasions while creationism is based on faith -soley. They didn't agree. They wondered which study proved it beyond a shadow of doubt. I promised to provide one the minute they provide me beyond a shaddow of doubt the existence of a being who created the universe for reasons I can only assume was boredom. I don't think my snark was appreciated.

The only conclusion is they were doing "mission work." I imagine they knew an Occupy Rally in Madison, WI would be a real hotbed of heathens

Why were creationists at an Occupy Rally?

Passers by were quite amused about the argument. I may have been dumbfounded, but those walking by were quick to laugh and run away. I could have used some back up!  :)

About the only thing to do to affect anything is to mock them, so that those watching will see how ridiculous they are and not become like them. You can't reach these people.

I have to comment on the amazing event that happened to me over the weekend. I was at an Occupy Rally at my state capitol. Before the march started, I noticed a disply decrying evolution. Baffled, I began reading the display. Before I knew it, I was surronded by at least five asking me to prove evolution. To name a study that proves it. I replied name any study and there you go. They replied no study is conclusive. I asked to prove the existence of a higher power who created everything. They replied it's a matter of faith, but my faith in science was flawed. Over an hour of this. I was dumbfounded. Two days later I am still amazed. How can one argue with this?

What are the main topics, anyway?

PLEASE. Can everyone stop this thread on the wall. It's nigh on impossible to follow and this is what the discussions are for.

Everyone would also do well to remind themselves of the Dunning-Kruger paradox, too.

@ Natalie - color is perception - blue is blue, Raleigh scattering or not.  Aside from hallucination or other stimulation of the optic nerves, all color is some type of emitted or reflected light.
