I've created a discussion about Objectivism and Ayn Rand to continue this away from the Comment wall.

(Since this controversy won't go away anytime soon, why fill up the wall with it)

I find it better to use 'hobbits', since it narrows it down more, but yeah, good joke.

Best. Comparison. Ever. I am going to use this. I will referrence you, of course, but I am using this - often.

From the wonderful Kung Fu Monkey:

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

I should have added, as regards my post just below, that this is my strong action against unwanted door knockers when I need to get rid of them quickly.

In a quiet sit-down situation with similar buy-bull bashers I take a fairly reasonable kind of approach, much as indicated by Cane Kostovski below.

Ooh, I like that, Park. Mind if I steal it? More concise and nuanced than my statement of it.

Secular Humanism, which is almost completely at odds with Ayn Rand's philosophy.

Libertarian or division! I like that dichotomy! Seriously, keep the randian stuff on the forums (where it's been destroyed and fought over for months) cuz that stuff trends to get lengthy and I'm sure this group doesn't need that in the comments. Just my thoughts.

Libertarians are the pentecostals of atheism.

What then do you support? Division? Gather the sheep so that there is safety in numbers. Are you a sheep? I don't think so, but can you afford to be the wolf?
