Perhaps the group should be renamed "ORIGINS AND TERMINATIONS:..." :-)

FWIW, Louis, It's just general chit-chat. However, while not wishing to besmirch all American citz, you're obviously aware that your country is directly or indirectly responsible for a lot of the world's trouble's; although to be fair, most of that has stemmed from Republican politics.

Lockerbie, for example, was most likely the result of retaliation for the US's foreign policy at the time. 9/11 was almost certainly a direct effect of Bush's appalling performance. I was amazed he didn't turn the whole Arab world into a glass sheet - and expect he would have done were it not for his advisers, oil or the potential for radiation hitting US shores.

We can create a discussion if you prefer. Perhaps, as an American embarrassed by your recent premier's performance, you could start it?

I may regret this but.

What does all this have to do with Origins?

Being an American I'm fully aware 1st hand of many of its problems. And I say not un-patriotically that the US is not the greatest nation in the world. I think stats point that out. Personally, I don't think there can be such a thing - unless all but one country are totalitarian theocracies.

I'm certainly not suggesting to stop your freedom of speech. And please don't think that I have an attitude - "I'm an american, do what I say." I just think this is off topic. Maybe you could create a group to discuss this.

It is the Divided States of Rome, a war-mongering empire with standing armies stretched thin. It will come to a similar colossal demise. And unfortunately for me, take Canada will with it. :-(

The US is run by Christians for Christians - this is a legacy of how the country was born (or overrun) by religious zealots from Europe. It's ironic that the foresight of those early legislators to separate church and state has, perhaps, been the very thing that's kept this force in power.

Large parts of Europe (the UK in particular) are forever kowtowing to the US as if its something special: when in reality, its just a bully that drags us into pretty much every fight it starts.

Robert,

You DROVE to Hawaii? How'd that work out for you? =P

The United States is not a Christian nation. If we even have atheists/agnostics saying it then how are we supposed to combat the misinformation of the crazy Christians?

MCSA - Multidenominational Christian States of America - would be a more accurate acronym.

The USA. It should be called the UCSA - the United CHRISTIAN States of America. I spent 3 months driving 8,000 miles from Detroit (the ass end of America) to Florida keys, across the Confederate States to San Francisco and then to Hawaii to rest. I was not all that impressed. I found the best part was the airport on the way out.

Oh, I did love the Kennedy Space Center of course and Disneyland, Anaheim.

Being from the USofA, I can say personally that this country is ridiculous. It seems as if every issue is met with blind hysteria, and the right is constantly pulling arguments ever further into the region of the insane while the left legitimizes it through their attempt at continued rational debate and their infighting. If they simply shot down all the wing nuts for their insanity and told them to go sit in the corner and agreed to pass mainstream party policy straight through just because they are part of the democratic party and should make as much change as possible while they actually have power, there might be a hope. Otherwise, it will be 4-8 more years with no heeyaw xtians in office only for it to give way to Tammy Fey's love child rising to power to kill all them dang homosectuals. Personally, I think America should lose its sovereignty and the people of this country be forced into re-education camps for the foreseeable future. Ok, maybe nothing that extreme, but anything short of that probably won't help much.

Cool! I'll take a look. Oh wait, it's not cool to say cool at our age, any more. ;p)

I'm finishing off on a new website right now - all on me own, the other developer bailed - so excuse me if I'm a few days. I'll put you in my address book for sure.
