Using a 3-D scanner at University of Abertay Dundee (UK), that can be accurate up to (or is it down to?) 6 microns. Scientists plan on recreating brains from fossilized bird skulls and comparing them to a variety of modern species. Their focus will be on the flocculus, the area of the bird's brain responsible for integrating visual and balance signals during flight.
