Astonishing fossil site discovered in B.C.
BC Canada is my home province.
Thank you for sharing this! I'm looking forward to more information about this great discovery. Interesting that they found fossils of creatures that were also found in China. Should make for more interesting research!
Patricia, this is good news, indeed! Especially since it is so close to the Burgess Shales, which serves to compare and contrasts time frames and fossil comparisons. Here is a photo of a Burgess Shale dig:
This is from Google Earth, key words, Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation.
This is a photo from Google Earth showing both Burgess Shale site and Kootenay Ntl. Park, B.C. Remember, this was all an ocean at one time, and with tectonic plate movement, the mountains rose out of the sea, revealing layers upon layers of sedimentary rock. Shale is a sedimentary rock.
Oh, this is going to be very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Very interesting Patricia! I'll bet a lot will be learned from those fossils about the way life evolved. Thank you so much for posting.
The 12 previously unknown species fascinate me & I hope to continue hearing news from this site.
Discovering new information about earth & evolution I so very interesting, & we saw some of the fossils in Drumheller Alberta when we visited that Tyrell Dinosaur Museum. We physically held in our hands, pieces of bone over 65 million years old!
