Comment by Jules Melvin on May 11, 2012 at 7:34am i was a little surprised when i saw the vote was 68% For Amend 1 in pitt county, where ECU is, i guess the college vote didn't turn out there, maybe because of finals? Obama won Pitt a couple years ago by a decent margin. Same thing in Guilford county.
Comment by Daniel McCullough on May 10, 2012 at 7:06am Jessica, I'm feeling your pain. While there are a lot of crazier states, it feels horrible to be in the spotlight.
Comment by Tammy S on May 10, 2012 at 7:00am Yesterday was 'free paper' day here in good ol' Lee county, according to that rag, over 70% of the voters here voted for the amendment. Like Jessica I was born and raised here and this just disgusts and depresses me. I have so many family members and friends who will be injured by this hateful law and they don't deserve to be lumped in with the trogs in this state who voted for this law, many against their own best self-interests because they were duped.
I'm glad I have you guys to share with, because I probably, unwittingly, made a lot of local enemies by pushing them to vote against the amendment and offering to drive those who couldn't get there on their own to the polls. Sadly I got no responses, or takers and only know of 4 other people in this area besides my husband and I who voted against it, two of those were my parents.

Comment by Jessica on May 9, 2012 at 11:29pm r/atheism is giving NC a beating. It hurts to read so much negativity about the state I was born and raised in. It saddens me that we all are now portrayed a bigot filled state. I voted and encouraged over 15 people to go vote "against" who were not planning on it. I would like to make a meme to post over there but I lack the cleverness to get it to the front page. le sigh
Comment by Jules Melvin on May 9, 2012 at 8:01pm it could be worse, nc is still best state in the former confederacy for the most part
Comment by Tammy S on May 9, 2012 at 7:43am Heh heh, I don't know Joseph, watching the election results from primaries all over the country and seeing the candidate choices, I'm not sure anywhere in the country is sufficiently sane any longer. ;)

Comment by Tammy S on May 9, 2012 at 7:18am It's an awful thing to wake up to this morning, such a beautiful state so full of hate, we join 29 other states full of idiocy this morning! It's hard to believe there is this much bigotry and ignorance in our country. WTB adoptive Canadian parents for older professional couple, will clean and cook....
I did see this article, have you guys seen anything about this on the news?
One wonders if there could be enough cases to challenge the vote?
Comment by Joseph P on May 9, 2012 at 2:14am Yeah, I wish I lived in a sane world, too. Alas, that doesn't seem to be the case.
