Thank you for this important link, skepticmom.  I'm going to vote daily, and on every computer I own, until the voting is closed.

Let's help those in another southern state (GA) keep god off licence plates. Everyone can vote. I'm hoping they pick one that doesn't say god on it. If you want to vote, it's pretty easy. All you have to do is click on the one you like. It doesn't even ask for your information. It's pretty simple.

.2% blood alcohol level.  Holy crap.  And that's 70 mph in a 30 mph zone, in local terms.

I just found an interesting article about Jason Hooper. He's a evangelist working with His Call Ministries in Charlotte, NC. Has there been any news about his association with His Call or the fact that he's been in the news in Australia? If not, feel free to publicize the hypocrisy if you are in Charlotte or NC. :)

If anyone is in eastern North Carolina, check out "Elizabeth City Freethinkers" on meetup.com.  We have regular events, including Heathens at the Pub!

Hmm, actually, I was in Charlotte, yesterday.  Alas, it was for work, so I didn't have much time to look around.  The most I got was a look at IKEA, while I was there.

the sickest part, was the man needs help, medical. t his age spending that kind of money,on somthing in his head, that if he had said the aleins were landing on that day, they would have put him on meds.

That's not what I got out of his statement.  What he had been saying all along is that Jesus was going to come back and Rapture away all of the true believers, on May 21st.  Then, the world is going to end on October 21st.

He's declared that everything is still going according to plan, and the world will end on October 21st.  He's just added in some bullshit about the May 21st thing being a spiritual rapture, rather than a physical one ... whatever the hell that means.

As near as I can work out, he means something to the effect that those who will be saved has already been determined, as of May 21st.  I dunno.  The whole statement is gibberish.

What's a real pain in the ass is that I can already see what's going to happen after October 21st.  I've seen his calculations.  His calculations are adjusted for the existence of the year Zero.  There is no year Zero.  After October 21st, he's going to "realize" that and correct for that extra year he added in, giving him an identical set of dates for 2012.  He'll then be able to bilk his supporters for huge amounts of money, for a clarification campaign next year.

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:28pm 2 Comments

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/texas-merry-christmas-bill_n_3312786.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
