Hey Guys. I actually found atheist nexus through The Atheist Experience podcast and the Charoits of Iron Podcast, they kept talking about it so i thought i'd join to see what the fuss is about.

it would be nice to go to meet ups, but i'm over in good ole uk so wont be able to attend a kiwi meet up :( there's alot happening in Oxford and Reading but they are both a 30 minute to hour train ride away... I really need to learn to drive.

Hi Alastair and Shawn,

I found Atheist Nexus through PZ as well. There is an Australian and New Zealand group but that is more Australian focussed.

I agree that meeting up through just Atheism may not be productive so meeting with an established group would be more productive.
I get the emails from Skeptics in the pub and I will get there one day but I have volleyball on Tuesday nights.

If you haven't done it yet, search for Skeptics in the pub and join their mailing list to get news on meetings or other things. I'm pretty close to Parnell where they have been meeting up recently so I don't really have any excuses.

Cheers,
Tony

Organising atheists is like herding cats?

I agree, it's hard to get people to connect on what is essentially a non topic (except for furious atheists, but lets face it, there's only so much to bitch about and laugh at before it gets old).

I ended up here after PZ blogged about Atheist Nexus to see what it was about and it was vaguely interesting in the beginning...

I've found it's somewhat harder in practice to advertise the fact that you belong to a place like this in your normal life than it is in theory.

I think some science based meetups are probably a good idea, something like a night out at the stardome observatory would be cool I think.

Good good. Hi or even something witty!

Yep. I'm in Auckland. It's a very quiet group.

How about everyone of the 17 of us just say hi or even something witty?

Anybody actually out there? Where do atheists hide in Auckland?

coz you would have a dose of the 'flu, or even pleurisy
If ya didn't have yer feet in yer gumboots.

Ahh Tammie hows it goin girl, those fair dinkum Aussies from over the ditch might steal Frad Dag and even Phar Lap off us.But thankfully we still have our gum boots and our New Zealand Atheist page on Nexus.

Crikey!, ya gotta watch em though ya do ,take your eye off them for more than a moment or two, and before ya know it even ya grandmothers spare set of false teeths likely to have up in disappeared.Suppose what with a country formed with convicts with hero`s like Ned Kelly its kind of expected really.

Oh well with being the fine kind understanding good-bastards NewZealanders we all are.Its lucky we can tend to make some allowances.

Yeah right-o kick it in the guts again Trev !

Now there's rugby boots and racing boots and boots for drinkin' rum.
But the only boots I'm never without are the ones that start with "gum".
I've got short ones and long ones and some up to me belt.
I'm never dressed 'till I've got on me gumboots.

Aye, I loved that! And Amy is rather lovely ...
